Imbolo Mbue will be one of the writers reading during the Celebration.
The PEN/Faulkner Celebration is a fundraising event for continuing the work and mission of PEN/Faulkner—not only in supporting the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, but, critically, in support of its growing work bringing books and their authors to public school classrooms in Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland, through PEN/Faulkner Writers in Schools. The evening brings the world of PEN/Faulkner into a larger Washington audience. Every year, the Celebration (formerly Gala) unites a diverse and interesting audience, from the worlds of media, business and politics, to hear the voices of writers. Every year many say it was “the favorite night of the year, an evening that stands apart from all others”. Ideas are sparked, conversations started, all on the strength of words. It also happens to be a really fun night.
